AI Job Search: the job hunt that got its builder hired

The free repo from the reel. Its builder lost his job in late 2025, built this to run his own search, and after 69 tailored applications and 20 first interviews he signed a contract. You fill in your profile once, it searches job boards and ranks matches by fit, then for any job link it writes a tailored CV and cover letter, gets them critiqued by a second AI agent, revises, and helps you prep the interview.

CostThe repo is free and open source (MIT). Claude Code has no free tier: you need a Claude Pro/Max/Team plan or Anthropic API credits.
Does/setup builds your profile from your CV, LinkedIn export or an interview. /scrape searches job boards, /rank scores matches, /apply writes a tailored CV + cover letter (LaTeX PDFs) with a reviewer agent, /interview builds a prep pack and a mock interview. It never invents experience.
NeedsClaude Code, Python 3.10+, Bun, and a LaTeX install (lualatex + xelatex: MacTeX, TeX Live, TinyTeX or MiKTeX).
ProofAbout 57,000 stars and 18,000 forks on GitHub (checked 19 Oct 2026). Created in March 2026.

What you need first

1Claude CodeOn a paid Claude plan or with API credits. Other agents (Codex, Gemini CLI) can use parts of it via AGENTS.md.
2Your CV (and LinkedIn export)The more detail about what you actually did in each job, the better the tailored applications.
3Python, Bun and LaTeXLaTeX turns the CV and cover letter into PDFs. Minimal installs need the extra packages listed in SETUP.md.

Step by step

Make your own private copy

The README's quick start forks the repo, but a fork of a public repo is always public and /setup writes your name, contact details, work history and salary expectations into it. For your own job search, follow SETUP.md section 8 to make a private repository with this repo as upstream.

Tip: Only fork publicly if you want to contribute changes back.

Install the job board tools

In the folder run python3 tools/install_portal_clis.py (Windows: python tools\install_portal_clis.py).

Set up your profile

Type claude, then /setup. Put your CV PDF, LinkedIn export and other documents in the documents/ folder first, paste a CV, or answer its interview.

Find and rank jobs

/scrape searches the job boards and sorts matches by fit. Got lots? /rank scores them all and gives you a shortlist. Outside Denmark use the LinkedIn or freehire search, or run /add-portal with your local job board's URL.

Apply

/apply + the job link (or paste the job text). It evaluates fit, drafts the CV and cover letter, a reviewer agent critiques them, it revises and checks the PDFs. Read everything before you send it.

Prep the interview

/interview builds a prep pack from the exact posting and the CV you sent, maps likely questions to your examples and offers a mock interview. /outcome records what happened.
