Give Claude these 5 files before you build
Each Claude Code session starts with a fresh context window. These five files hold your decisions, so Claude stops guessing and stops forgetting what you decided yesterday.

The 5 templates
1. PRD: what you're building
What you're building, who it's for, and every feature.

2. Design system: how it looks
Colors, fonts, spacing and buttons, so every screen matches.

3. Architecture: how it works
The tech stack and how data moves.

4. CLAUDE.md: the rules Claude reads first
Claude Code loads CLAUDE.md at the start of every session. Name it exactly CLAUDE.md.

5. Task list: small steps
Small steps Claude checks off one by one.

Put them in your project folder
Save all five in your project folder, then start Claude Code there. When you change your mind about something, update the file.

The catch
- The files only help if they're up to date. When you change a decision, change the file.
- These are starting templates, not rules from Anthropic. Change them to fit your project.
- Keep them short. A short PRD you finish beats a long one you don't.
- Claude Code isn't in the free Claude plan. It needs a paid plan such as Pro.
