What it does

What you need first

1A computer (Mac, Windows or Linux)It runs on your computer. Your CV stays there, apart from what goes to your AI tool.
2Node.js (free)Step 1 installs it.→3An AI coding toolClaude Code (paid Claude plan, from about $20/mo, US price) or Codex. The Career-Ops page also lists free options.→
4Your CVAny format. You'll paste the text in.

Step by step

Install Node.js

Easiest: download the LTS installer from nodejs.org and click through it. Or, if you have Homebrew, paste this in Terminal (Cmd + Space, type Terminal).Easiest: download the LTS installer from nodejs.org and click through it. Or paste this in PowerShell (Start → type PowerShell). Then close PowerShell and open a new one.

Mac (Terminal)
brew install node
Windows (PowerShell)
winget install -e --id OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS --accept-source-agreements --accept-package-agreements

Install Claude Code (or your AI tool)

Paste the line, then sign in with your Claude account when it asks. Prefer Codex or a free option? Install that instead (links on the Career-Ops page) and use its command in step 4.

Mac (Terminal)
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
Windows (PowerShell)
irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex

Download Career-Ops

This creates a folder called career-ops with everything inside.

Mac and Windows
cd ~
npx @santifer/career-ops init

Tip: Windows says "running scripts is disabled"? Run Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser RemoteSigned -Force once, then try again.

Open it with your AI tool

Mac and Windows (use codex instead of claude if that's your tool)
cd career-ops
claude

Give it your CV and what you want

It walks you through a short setup. Paste your CV when it asks, and tell it the roles, levels and locations you're after. The more honest detail, the better the scores.

Score a job

Paste any job link into the chat. You get a report and a score from 1 to 5. Or let it search for you:

Scan 100+ companies
/career-ops scan

Tip: The creator's own rule: only go for jobs that score 4 out of 5 or higher. It's not a spray-and-pray tool.

Get your CV and cover letter, then apply yourself

For a good match, ask it for a tailored CV and a cover letter. Read every line before you send anything, then apply on the company's site yourself.

Things to ask it

Paste these into the chat once it's set up.

Here's a job link: [paste link]. Score it against my CV and tell me the 3 biggest gaps.
Make a tailored CV and a short cover letter for this job. Don't add any skill I don't have.
Find the hiring manager for this role and draft a short, friendly LinkedIn message.
Show me all my applications and what I should follow up on this week.

Want it set up for you?

Not into terminals? Reply SETUP to my Instagram DM and tell me what kind of job you're after. I'll tell you how I can help.

The catch

Stuck?

It says "npx: command not found"
Node.js isn't installed yet, or the window is old. Do step 1, then open a new Terminal or PowerShell window.
"claude: command not found"
Open a new window after installing Claude Code. Still missing? Run the install line from step 2 again.
Can I use it without paying for an AI plan?
Yes, the Career-Ops page lists free AI tools it works with. They're slower and less accurate than Claude, so check results more carefully.
Is my CV safe?
Career-Ops keeps your files on your computer. Your CV and job details are sent to the AI tool you use (like Claude) to do the work, so read that tool's privacy settings.
