One word that changes how ChatGPT answers
Define five modes once. Start a prompt with TRUTHMODE, REDTEAM, CFO, ROAST or HUMAN, and ChatGPT changes the job it thinks it's doing.
Checked on 15 Oct 2026. Tools change fast, so the official page always wins if it says something different.
Step by step
Copy the five mode definitions
When I start a message with one of these words, answer in that mode: TRUTHMODE: no compliments. Tell me what's weak and why. REDTEAM: attack my idea and find the holes before my customers do. CFO: check the numbers in my plan. Show the math and the risks. ROAST: brutal, honest feedback on my landing page or resume, then a better version. HUMAN: rewrite stiff AI text so it sounds like a real person.
Save them in custom instructions
Go to Settings → Personalization → Custom instructions and paste them in. You need an account. No account? Paste them as the first message of a chat. They'll work for that chat.
Start a prompt with one word
We tested all five on a made-up meal-prep business for night-shift nurses.
REDTEAM I want to sell weekly meal-prep boxes to night-shift nurses.
Check the math yourself
CFO is good at spotting risk, but check its sums. In our test its per-week numbers were right and its monthly totals were slightly off.
