Make ChatGPT read your resume like a hiring manager
Upload your resume and the job post, then run these 4 prompts in order. You find out where a recruiter stops reading, fix your bullets and add the keywords recruiters search for.

What you need first
Step by step
Upload your resume and the job post
Start a new chat in ChatGPT. Upload your resume and paste the full job post.
Prompt 1: the 6-second scan
This shows you what's actually wrong before you change anything.
Act as a hiring manager who's read 300 resumes today. Give mine a 6-second scan and tell me exactly where you stopped reading, and why.
Prompt 2: rewrite every bullet as a result
Duties tell a recruiter what you were supposed to do. Results tell them what you got done.
Rewrite every bullet as a result, not a duty, using Google's X-Y-Z formula: accomplished X, measured by Y, by doing Z.
Tip: If you don't give it numbers, ChatGPT may leave a gap like [X%]. Fill it with a real number, or drop the number. Never guess one.
Prompt 3: find the missing keywords
Recruiters search applicant systems by keywords, so missing ones make you hard to find. Only add a keyword if you really have that skill.
List the keywords from this job post that are missing from my resume.
Prompt 4: the cover letter
Then read it out loud and change anything that doesn't sound like you.
Write a short cover letter for this job using only facts from my resume. Don't invent numbers, skills or experience. Mark anything you're unsure about so I can check it.

The catch
- Only use numbers and skills you can back up. ChatGPT can make a bullet sound great. Every word still has to be true, because the interview will test it.
- Most applicant systems don't auto-reject you. They mostly rank resumes and let recruiters search. Hard filters like location or work permit can still screen you out.
- The 6-second scan is ChatGPT's guess at what a hiring manager would think, not a real one.
- Your resume has personal details. Take out your phone number and home address before you upload it if you'd rather not share them.
