PPT Master: turn any PDF into an editable PowerPoint
The free, open-source tool from the reel. Give your AI tool a PDF, Word doc or topic and it builds a real .pptx: native text boxes, shapes, data-backed charts and your own template, generated on your computer.
Checked on 19 Oct 2026. Tools change fast, so the official page always wins if it says something different.
What you need first
brew install python.Step by step
Download the repo
On the GitHub page click Code → Download ZIP and unzip it (or git clone https://github.com/hugohe3/ppt-master.git if you use Git).
Run the one install line
Open a terminal in that folder and run pip install -r requirements.txt.
Open the folder in your AI tool
In Claude Code: cd ppt-master then claude. In an editor like Cursor or VS Code: File → Open Folder and use the chat panel.
Drop in your file
Put your PDF or Word doc inside the projects/ folder.
Ask for the deck
Type something like Please create a PPT from projects/my-report.pdf. It confirms a design spec first (template, format, number of pages), then builds the deck. The .pptx lands in the exports/ folder. Open it in PowerPoint and edit anything.
Tip: Want charts you can edit with Edit Data in PowerPoint? The README explains the native charts option in the Create section.

The catch
- The tool is free, the AI isn't. Every deck uses your AI model's tokens, so a big PDF on a top model costs more.
- Don't expect a perfect deck in one shot. The creator says so himself: it takes most of the tedious work away, the final polish is yours.
- There's a bit of setup. Python plus an AI tool. Windows has a few extra steps, the repo has a dedicated Windows guide.
- You don't need the sponsored API services listed at the top of the README. Your own Claude (or other) plan works.
