day-trader-skill: a day-trading desk inside Claude

The free, open-source skill pack from the reel. Eleven Claude skills, each with one job: scan charts, watch the news, time the entry, set the stop and target, size the position, check your risk limits, and a Time Machine that replays the rest of the day 10,000 times so you see the honest odds before you trade. Paper trading by default, and nothing trades without your yes.

CostFree and open source (MIT). No signup, no API key. The tools read free public data (Yahoo Finance charts, Nasdaq Trader symbol lists, SEC EDGAR, the House Clerk). It runs inside Claude, so it uses your normal Claude usage.
The 11 skillsChart Scanner, News Monitor, Entry Timer, Exit Planner, Time Machine, Risk Manager, Budget Manager, Order Executor (paper by default), Price Alerts, Earnings Analyst and a Congress trade-disclosure tracker.
Time MachineReplays the rest of the session 10,000 times from the stock's own last ~60 days of 5-minute bars, plus every past day the same setup fired, and reports target first / stop first / neither. A simulation, not a prediction.
ProofAbout 390 stars on GitHub two days after launch (created 20 Oct 2026). Brand new, one main author.

Checked on 22 Oct 2026. Tools change fast, so the official page always wins if it says something different.

What you need first

1ClaudeClaude Code gets the full pack with the Python tools. In the Claude app you can paste a single SKILL.md as a mode, but you lose the tools.
2Python 3.8 or newerNothing to pip install. For the SEC tools, put your name and email in trader/config.json (sec_user_agent) or the SEC_USER_AGENT environment variable.
3A broker is optionalOrders go through Alpaca's MCP server, paper account by default. Keys live in environment variables, never in the chat.

Step by step

Install it

Paste the GitHub link (below) into Claude and say install skill. Or in Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skill then /plugin install day-trader-skill@day-trader-skill.

Scan for setups

Run /trader-scanner to find setups like opening-range breakouts, then /trader-news for the headlines on the stocks you picked.

Plan the trade

/trader-entry watches the setup bar by bar and tells you when it triggers. /trader-exit sets your stop and target before you enter.

Check the odds

/trader-timemachine replays the rest of the day 10,000 times and shows how often the target or the stop hits first.

Tip: In the README's own Tesla example it came out close to a coin flip. That's the point: look before you risk money.

Size it and check your limits

/trader-budget sizes the position to your max loss per trade, and /trader-risk blocks any order that breaks your limits.

Paper trade first

/trader-broker shows the ticket in plain words and only sends it after you type yes. Keep it on paper trading until you've tested it for a long time.
